The Invitation of Insanity

Most of us do not notice how quickly the mind wants to lose peace. We all believe that peace of mind, is what we truly want. And the truest part of us, our Inner spirit, does want it. But our egoic-mind, the operating software that runs our life, runs away from peace. It is designed to keep you in chaos using the goal of peace as an excuse.

For example, we believe that we need to meditate to experience peace. With meditation as the goal, we then create plans for when to meditate, which meditation to do, figure out what will work for us and what won’t, how to create time in our routine for it, etc. Then if it doesn’t work or we can’t make time, we judge ourselves. We then blame our work or the people in our life for not giving us the time or space to meditate.

All this, when we can just sit down and close our eyes. That’s it. For 2 mins. Or 5 mins. Anything is a good start. A simple pause and 5 slow breaths are a good start to meditation.

But no, the ego instead designs plans to make meditation a future goal that needs to be achieved… Instead of something that you can choose now, in this moment. The egoic-mind is designed to make you forget what you already have. It will not allow you to simply return to the peace which is always within us.

Let’s remember. Peace is not something that can come from someone or something outside. It is our nature. We cannot buy peace or be gifted peace or win it after 100 levels in a game. It is not an object or an emotion to gain. When we pause, step beyond the mind’s chatter, we simply feel it. Where it always was. Within us. Not in our mind. Not in the body. Not as a thought. It is us. Always there.

At every moment, we have a choice. Listen to the invitation of insanity  – which is any form of busyness or action or emotion the world seems to offer us. Or choose sanity of peace – spend a few moments with our True Self.
